In Haishiwan Town, Lanzhou, Gansu Province, technicians from the State Grid Gansu Extra-High Voltage Company carried out a live-line operation using an innovative "Flying Man" technique, installing a cotter pin on a 750-kilovolt transmission tower without cutting the power. Working amid intense electric fields and limited space, the team spent two years developing and perfecting the method through simulation and testing. Their breakthrough not only fills a national technical gap for live-line work on high-voltage dual-circuit towers but also boosts the efficiency of renewable energy transmission between Gansu and Qinghai.
