As Typhoon Dolphin brought strong winds to Shanghai, Shanghai Tower's massive damper was set in motion. Its job is to move against the building's sway, absorb energy and help keep the 632-meter skyscraper stable. It isn't losing control. It's doing exactly what it was designed to do.
